WHAT IS USTA LEAGUE TENNIS?

USTA League Tennis is the country's largest recreational tennis league, helping more than 800,000 players nationwide go on the court, have a good time, and step up their ga
me.  Leagues are organized for competitive team match play, and set up according to NTRP ratings, so your teammates and opponents will be at your skill level.  The competition is exciting and the atmosphere is social.  Whether you are new to the game or an experienced player, there is a League for you!

WHO CAN PLAY?

USTA League Tennis is for women and men age 18 and older of all abilities and experience. Whether you're new to the game or a former college player, there's a spot for you.  Players must turn 18 on or before December 31 of the year of competition.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Teams can compete in 16 different leagues.  There are five national divisions: USTA Mixed 18 & Over, USTA Adult 18 & Over, USTA Adult 40 & Over, USTA Mixed 40 & Over and USTA Adult 55 & Over.  There is one Intermountain Sectional division in ITA Fall Mixed Doubles league.  The IdTA also offers seven local leagues as well as two different World TeamTennis leagues (the formats feature singles, doubles and mixed doubles).

HOW COMPETITIVE IS IT?

Do you have the desire to compete on a national level? USTA league is the only adult recreational tennis program in the country with a national championship. If you just want to play regularly, meet new people, USTA can take you there too. Make it your league. Play as hard you want.

SMALLER TEAMS ENCOURAGED IN TREASURE VALLEY DUE TO INCREASED FLIGHTING FOR LEAGUE MATCHES

The possibility of flighting has increased in the 2013 season as the addition of leagues has shortened a few league seasons. All of the USTA leagues (USTA Mixed 18 & Over, USTA Adult 18 & Over, USTA Adult 40 & Over, USTA Adult 55 & Over) are eight weeks long while the ITA Fall Mixed is six weeks long. The IdTA will continue to attempt to offer 1-2 matches a week; therefore if a league is eight weeks long the maximum number of matches a team could receive are 12 team matches, thus any levels with more than 13 teams will be flighted. If a league is six weeks long the maximum number of matches a team could receive are nine team matches, thus any levels with more than 11 teams will be flighted.  The minimum number of matches a team can receive is seven. Teams are encouraged to carry no more than 10-12 players.
