List of Players that Qualified for a 2013 National Championship
BOISE, Idaho - The Idaho District of the USTA had 106 players qualify to advance to a 2013 National Championship. Intermountain Idaho
is proud to have these players represent the state in National competition.
With this in mind the League Team is taking a moment to
inform those league players that were on teams in 2013 that qualified to
advance to a National Championship that the 2014 Move-Up/Split-Up rule has
undergone an update.
For any team that advances to, or qualifies for any 2013
National Championship only a total of three players (two for 2.5 and
5.0+ levels) who were on the final roster of any team or combination of teams
that advanced to, or qualified for, any National Championship, may play together
on the same team the following year (if their individual NTRP Levels allow). These three (or two) players may be
from any Team, Division, Age Group, or NTRP Level (straight or combined)
OR, from any combination of these.
The only EXCEPTION is if more than three (or two)
players from the same team wish to play together again as a team, in whole or
in part, they may do so if: they move up one team NTRP Level (if their
individual NTRP Levels allow) AND they do not combine with players who
were rostered on any other team that advanced to, or qualified for, any
National Championship the previous year.
The Move-Up/Split-Up rule applies to any player who was on
the final roster of any team or combination of teams that advanced to, or
qualified for, any of the following 2013 National Championships:
18 & Over
40 & Over
55 & Over
18 & Over
In regards to a team moving from the Adult Division to the
Mixed Division or vice versa the Split-Up portion of the Move-Up/Split-Up rule
will be in effect as the option to Move-Up occurs merely in the same Division of
either the Adult or Mixed USTA league(s).
The Leagues Team
understands that this new regulation may affect your 2014 league team plans
thus the notification. Below is a copy
of the 2014 league regulation:
2.06A National Championship Teams. No team may have
on its roster more than three players (two for 2.5 and 5.0+) who were on the
roster of any team, or combination of teams, that advanced to, or qualified
for, any National Championship the previous year. The only EXCEPTION is that if more than three
players (two for 2.5 and 5.0+) wish to play together again as a team, in whole or
in part, they must move up one NTRP team level and may not combine with players
who were rostered on any other team that advanced to, or qualified for, any
National Championship the previous year.
These requirements apply to league participation in any and all
Divisions, Age Groups and/or NTRP team levels.
Move-Up/Split-Up requirements only apply to players who participated in any match for that team
during the championship year, including defaults received. If a Section has a regulation that limits the
number of player on a roster that are at a specific level, the Section must
suspend that regulation for one year for any team that advanced to, or qualified for, any National
Championship the previous year and chooses to move up one NTRP team level.
To better help league players adhere to the 2014 regulation
we are including a list of players who qualified to advance to a 2013 USTANational Championship.
Please note that the 2013 USTA Adult 55 & Over
Sectionals Championship have not occurred yet and these players will be advised
on how to proceed if their team qualifies to advance to a 2013 USTA Adult 55
& Over National Championship.

Fall Mixed District Championships to advance to Sectional Championships
BOISE, Idaho – Four
Idaho teams will advance to the Intermountain Section Championship after not
just winning but sweeping their respective divisions with undefeated records for
the 5.5, 6.5, 7.5 and 8.5 levels at the Idaho Tennis Associations' 2013 ITA Fall
Mixed District Championships held October 11-13 at the Boise Racquet and Swim
Club and Capital High School. The 5.5
level will also send an additional team to Sectionals via a wildcard
opportunity for five total teams advancing.
Top teams from the Treasure Valley, Magic Valley, Idaho
Falls, and Pocatello areas were eligible to compete for a total of 18 teams at
Districts. All levels played a round robin competition to determine
the winner of their division. Each team
match consisted of three mixed doubles individual matches. Winner of the most individual matches wins
the team match.
“It’s very rare for a team to go undefeated during the
local league season and at Districts let alone every team to sweep their local
and district competition,” said Idaho Tennis Association District League
Coordinator Katie Ware. “Idaho should represent very well at Sectionals.”
The 5.5 and 6.5 levels were determined on Saturday
evening as TV-Guys & Dolls w/Balls in the 5.5 level and TV-Mixology in the
6.5 levels were undefeated at their respective divisions during the local
league season and at Districts. Both
teams posted 8-0 records during their local league seasons.
TV-Guys & Dolls w/Balls captained by Marnie Newton posted a 3-0 record at
Districts after defeating teams from the Treasure Valley, Idaho Falls and
Pocatello. They only gave up one
individual match at Districts. TV-Recreational
Hazard that took second place at Districts is also eligible to advance to
Sectionals via a Wildcard.
TV-Mixology captained by Andrea Baerwald posted a 4-0
record at Districts after defeating two teams from the Treasure Valley, one
team from the Magic Valley and one team from Idaho Falls. They only dropped two individual matches
The 7.5 and 8.5 levels were determined on Sunday
afternoon. The TV-I’d Hit That in Vegas captained by Jason Adkins and Justin Walker at the 7.5 level posted a 5-0 record at Districts after an 8-0 local league
record. The TV-Youzhnys team captained by Suzanna Sims and Brad Hines at the 8.5
level was also undefeated in Districts with a 4-0 record and posted an 8-0
record in local league.
“Idaho has been doing exceptionally well this season in
mixed doubles competition. In the USTA
Mixed 18 & Over league Section championship in the spring Idaho won four out
of the five levels to send team to Nationals at the 6.0, 7.0, 8.0 and 9.0
levels,” said Ware. “I think Idaho is
proving to be a powerhouse in mixed doubles.”
The Intermountain ITA Fall Mixed Sectional Championship will
be in Las Vegas, Nev. November 1-3 and will harbor teams from Idaho, Colorado,
Utah, Southern Nevada, Montana and Wyoming.

Greetings Singles Flex Players -
Thanks so much for your hard work in completing your Singles Flex League matches! As of today, more than half of the outstanding matches from our last email have been played and recorded.
In recognition of your efforts to complete your remaining matches, as well as the bad weather we've been experiencing, the league-end date has been extended to Sunday, October 20th. All matches must be played and recorded by end of day on the 20th.
Even if you are the "visiting" team, please make efforts to contact your opponent if you haven't heard from him/her. Some players just need a little prodding to get their match scheduled!
Thanks for your support of our league tennis programs.
